The next step in Fab Optimization: From Equipment to Operator Interfaces

Being one of the most complex manufacturing systems known, semiconductor manufacturing provides a lot of challenges and opportunities for Fab automation. In recent years, Fab automation has made huge advances, allowing operation of a leading-edge semiconductor Fab nearly automatically in every aspect, such as transport and process automation, automatic process control and fault-detection, and automatic WIP control.

Although a high level of automation is already achieved, there are still many facets of the manufacturing process that requires human interaction with the various parts of the control system in order to help the Fab to meet their operational performance targets, such as cycle time, utilization, and cost.

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Manufacturing Cockpit provides a system that aligns human and system interaction to help the people on the shop-floor perform the required manual interaction with minimized effort and maximized impact. This is achieved by providing an operator interface with all of the necessary information and controls.
