MES in a R&D environment with 200mm and 300 mm wafer

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas: defense and security, low carbon energies (nuclear and renewable energies), technological research for industry and fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences. The CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners, and is established in nine centers spread throughout France.

Automation and MES systems with high volume manufacturing are performing well since decades to match "Make to Stock" industries requirements, however R&D requirements are not always easy to match within a Manufacturing Execution System to be able to adapt and re-use all the best practices known within the semiconductor field. Since 5 years now the LETI is running with an MES system tailored to match typical “Engineer to Order” requirements. This presentation will focus on implemented LETI R&D specificities. Done in close collaboration with Dresden German SystemA integrator and Eyelit Canadian MES, to be able to fasten the time to market : new industrial products or startups critical projects.
